Our History – where it all began…
In 1993, Ruth Partington – a freelance translator and new mother – found her true calling. She founded RP Translate in 1993 and remains at the helm as the Managing Director of this family-owned business, which has gone from strength to strength over the 20 years or so since it first began.
As a qualified language expert and fluent in French, Russian and Hebrew, she became frustrated with how quality and service were somewhat lacking in the industry – elements of which still exist today – this perception that somehow it’s all about high word-count volumes, excessive speed and lowest monetary value equating to or being considered more important than actual quality of the translation itself – whereby voices are not heard clearly and impacting on overall message communication.
Translation is far more than just changing words from one language to another – and this ‘stack ‘em high, sell ‘em cheap’ approach didn’t sit well with Ruth then, and doesn’t sit well with us now. Yes, we could challenge others and become the cheapest or the quickest, but will this give you the quality you need for your end clients? Does it mean you can trust the insight you are giving them?
Quality doesn’t always have to mean the most expensive or the longest time is needed – it’s about understanding from the beginning exactly what is required, and working in partnership to ensure that your respondents voices are heard, enabling you to see through their eyes to gain the truest insight – and building your reputation in your clients’ eyes.
